This online course focuses on the fundamentals of financial accounting concepts for students seeking a basic understanding of terminology and principles. Topics include the accounting cycle, journal entries, T-accounts, adjusting entries, and financial accounting statements. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Fundamentals

This course introduces students to chatbots, virtual assistants, and text-to-image models along with other generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools. Students will learn topics such as what generative AI is and how to use it, the differences between AI programs such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard, how to use different AI tools, security and regulatory concerns, practical uses for AI, and the future of AI. In addition, students will learn how to incorporate and use AI tools in the workplace. Practical examples will demystify the complex generative AI space to give students a platform to assist them with day-to-day tasks. This course will be instructor-led and delivered on campus. Prepayment of tuition is required.

Certified Guest Service Professional

HOS-4040

This course provides and overview of the lodging industry, followed by an in-depth look at common line-level positions within hotels. Core topics will focus on positions in the rooms and food and beverage divisions of a lodging operation, including front desk, reservations, housekeeping, bell services, restaurant service, banquet setup, and property management systems utilized in most major hotel operations. Guest service professionalism and career exploration are additional components of this program. Upon completion, students will have the knowledge base to sit for the Certified Guest Service Professional certification from the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute.

Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist

This course is intended to provide the foundation of knowledge necessary for medical billing professionals. In addition, students will prepare for the industry-recognized Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) certification offered through the American Medical Billing Association (AMBA). This is a hybrid course. Class will meet face-to-face one night a week and a portion of the coursework will be delivered online. Prepayment of tuition and purchase of course materials are required. Registration fees do not include certification exam fees.

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Bootcamp

This course teaches the medical coding skills necessary for healthcare professionals and covers the application of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes. Students will practice reviewing and assigning the proper procedure and diagnostic codes. In addition, this course is designed to prepare students for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certified Professional Coders (CPC) industry-recognized credential. Basic coding knowledge is recommended. Class will meet face-to-face one night a week and a portion of the coursework will be delivered online. Digital Marketing Bootcamp

This course prepares students to boost digital and social media marketing skills. Students will learn topics such how to deploy a variety of digital and social media tools to aid in marketing a business, knowledge of all social media platforms and the purpose and best audience for each, advertising and paid campaigns, website tools, techniques for pushing content out with the highest success rates, search engine optimization, data analytics and reporting, and how to develop content for the various platforms. Upon completion, students will be able to take the knowledge gained and put to use in their own business or organization to drive growth across digital platforms. This class is a must for small businesses and marketing professionals. This course is instructor-led and delivered in a hybrid format on campus and online. Prepayment of tuition is required.

 

DMV Dealer License Prelicense

DMV 3002

This course is designed to meet the twelve-hour training requirement for individuals seeking an initial Used Motor Vehicle Dealers’ license. Course content will include an in-depth review of North Carolina motor vehicle dealer rules, regulations, and application requirements. Students will be introduced to the forms and other necessary documentation required for motor vehicle transactions as well as audit procedures conducted by the NC DMV.

A Zoom link will be sent by email to each student three days prior to the class start date. Students must use a computer that has a steady Internet connection. Students must also have a camera and microphone to participate in the class and have the camera on. Students should log in around 15 minutes prior to the course start time to check in and ensure that the session can be accessed. Failure to do so or maintain a steady connection will result in credit not being awarded for the course. A certificate of completion will be emailed to each student upon successful completion of the course.

This class is designed to meet the standards in North Carolina and not in any other state.

This course is designed for instructional areas related to individuals who want to become commissioned as an electronic notary. Topics include legal, ethical and procedural requirements of the Notary Act set forth in the General Statute 10B Article 2. Upon completion of this course with a passing exam grade of 80%, a person is eligible to make an application with the NC Secretary of State office. Individuals must have current notary commission to participate in E-notary training. Notary Manual will be purchased from instructor in class. Additional costs include: commission fee to Secretary of State, $50; swearing in at the courthouse, $10; required textbook, $7.25 (purchased day of class); notary seal (costs vary). Family Tree Maker 2024

This course is for students who want to learn about features and functions of the all-new Family Tree Maker® 2024. Students must have successfully completed Introduction to Family Tree Maker or have an intermediate level of experience with the Family Tree Maker® software. Students will learn to unlock previous versions of Family Tree Maker® software, create maps that show events and people associated with them, give friends and relatives viewing privileges to their trees on their smartphones, make interactive documentaries with talking picture files, use the built-in family resource center, Turn Back Time® up to 5,000 changes, add Relative Hint™ sticky notes, use the greatly expanded Photo Darkroom® Tools, and use other new features and tools. Those employed in or wishing to pursue a career in genealogy services will learn advanced research, data entry, scanning, organizational, and computer skills. This course is instructor-led and delivered on campus. Prepayment of tuition is required. Students should bring a 16GB+ flash drive with their Family Tree Maker® backup file (including media) on it to the first class.

Family Tree Maker Advanced

This course is for students who have successfully completed Introduction to Family Tree Maker and Family Tree Maker Intermediate, or for those who have an advanced level of experience with the Family Tree Maker software. Students will learn to do more in-depth research to find and record additional ancestors and descendants in Family Tree Maker 2024, scan and edit photos using Family Tree Maker’s Photo Darkroom, and design more customized genealogy charts and reports. Participants will learn to document their research properly by using source templates. Students will also learn to extract branches of their families to work with or share. Other topics to be covered will be finding data and relationship errors and fixing them and using Soundex (a phonetic coding system) to locate people in US Censuses and other large databases. Upon completion, students will be able to take the knowledge gained and continue to expand their family trees within Family Tree Maker. They will also be able to use the skills gained to produce a quality family history book, suitable for publishing. In addition, those employed in or wishing to pursue a career in genealogy services will learn more advanced research, data entry, scanning, organizational, and computer skills. They will be able to offer extensive assistance to clients or patrons who are working on their family histories or other research projects. This course is instructor-led and delivered on campus. Family Tree Maker Advanced Interest Form

This course is for students who have successfully completed Introduction to Family Tree Maker or for those who have an intermediate level of experience with the Family Tree Maker software. Students will learn to do in-depth research and record additional ancestors and descendants in Family Tree Maker 2019, scan and improve the appearance of their photos before entering them into Family Tree Maker and produce customized genealogy charts and reports. They will learn to document their research properly by entering repositories, sources, and citations. Upon completion, students will be able to expand their family trees within Family Tree Maker and use the skills gained to produce a mediumly complex family history book. In addition, those employed in or wishing to pursue a career in genealogy services will learn more advanced research, data entry, scanning, organizational, and computer skills. This course is instructor-led and delivered on campus. Prepayment of tuition is required. Students should bring a flash drive (at least 16GB) with their Family Tree Maker backup file on it to the first class.

Google Data Analytics

This course introduces the role of an advanced Google data analyst and how to make data-driven decisions using effective questions, data transformation, analyzation processes, visualization, and programming. Emphasis is placed on setting up data toolbox, spreadsheets, database and query basics, visualization basics, effective communication techniques, and data validation; as well as design thinking, data driven storytelling, dashboards, R programming, job portfolios, and technical expertise. Upon completion, students should be able to review assessments, use formulas and calculations to analyze datasets, create queries, use visualization tools, create a data-driven storyboard, develop dashboards and presentations, create analytical reports using R, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and showcase technical analytical skills. Google Digital Marketing and E-Commerce

The course will provide instruction on popular digital marketing and e-commerce tools and platforms, such as Canva, Constant Contact, Hootsuite, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Shopify, Twitter, Google Ads, and Google Analytics. Students will build their own portfolio with projects like customer personas and social media calendars to show to potential employers. By the end of this course, students will be able to apply digital marketing strategies, best practices, and tools to increase awareness of a business, understand customer needs, and engage people’s interests with products and services. In addition, students will obtain the knowledge necessary to complete the Google Digital Marketing and E-Commerce Certificate. In this course, students will learn to research and record their ancestors and descendants utilizing the Family Tree Maker software, scan and enter their photos, and produce genealogy charts and reports. They will also learn to manage facts and sources, add other media, and sync to ancestry.com. Upon completion, students will be able to take the knowledge gained and continue to expand their family trees within Family Tree Maker. They will also be able to produce a simple family history book. This course is a necessity for those wishing to document their families and preserve them for future generations. In addition, this course is beneficial to those employed in or wishing to pursue a career in genealogy services. The course is instructor-led and delivered in person on campus. Prepayment of tuition is required. Students should bring a flash drive with 16GB or more of storage space.
