The Health Sciences programs at RCC are limited enrollment, meaning admission is not guaranteed. To be considered for admission to any of the Health Sciences programs listed below, certain steps must first be completed. Short-Term Certifications

Advanced EMT

The Advanced EMT program consists of online coursework and on-campus dates. This course requires both on campus and online coursework. Students must have access to high speed internet.

Clinical Compliance Policy

The Advanced EMT program provides learning opportunities for students in an array of clinical learning environments. To comply with program policies, state and local regulations for healthcare providers, and in the interest of your own personal safety, the safety of your patients, and the potential liability to both the college and clinical agency, there are significant compliance requirements that must be met in order to enter the clinical area.  

Applicants are expected to review the  Compliance Policy for Clinical Placement prior to application to the program.

EMT-Initial

EMS-4200

The EMT program is designed to teach basic life support skills. EMTs are able to function in many areas including EMS systems, fire departments, hospitals, rescue squads, and physician offices. The class consists of lectures and hands-on skills instruction as well as field clinical opportunities. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to sit for the North Carolina or National Registry EMT examination.
