College can be challenging to navigate with so many options and decisions to consider. RCC’s Advising and Counseling team provides personalized support and resources to help students succeed academically and personally.
Services are available in the areas of academic advising, transfer planning, career services, accessibility services, and testing.
Students with academic questions should first contact their instructor and/or advisor. Additional support is available through Advising and Counseling for concerns related to academic progress, probation, course scheduling, time management, study skills, and educational planning.
The Advising and Counseling offices are located in the Whitcomb Student Center. Upon arrival, please check in at the Welcome Desk.
Academic Advising
All students are assigned a faculty or staff advisor that will provide support and guidance throughout their time as an RCC student. Students are assigned their advisor after they complete new student orientation and register for their first semester of classes. Academic advisors help students make informed decisions about their program of study and potential career, which will enable students to create a viable plan to meet their academic and career goals. Topics usually covered in the advising process include:
- Student’s program of study
- Potential career resulting from the program
- Courses needed to complete the program
- Timeline to graduation
- Time management
- Course registration
For assistance, students should contact their advisor by email or phone to schedule an appointment. Students will find their advisor’s contact information by logging into Watemark. Students should also contact their advisor for help with academic issues including the following:
- Changing program of study
- Adding or dropping a course
- Accessing RCC’s campus resources
