Carpentry: Trim and Finish
CAR-3108
This trim and finish carpentry course focuses on the precise installation of interior trim elements such as baseboards, door and window casing, crown molding, and chair rails. It emphasizes detailed cuts, accurate measurements, and a clean, finished aesthetic in a residential setting. A General Contractor often subcontracts a trim carpenter to complete the trim on custom projects. This includes crown molding and trim around windows, doors, cabinets, and baseboards.
Student may be required to provide their own PPE (personal protective equipment) and hand tools. Do not purchase any items before the first class meeting. The instructor will discuss the items required for the class at that time.
Students must wear closed-toe shoes. Pants must fit snugly at the waist and properly throughout because loose-fitting pants or shirts can catch in the machinery and cause serious injury. While operating power tools never wear long sleeves that fit loosely or do not button at the wrist. Long hair must be tied back into a bun at all times to prevent getting caught in power tools. The instructional space may be outside in the elements, so students should dress accordingly.
Safety is fundamental and will be discussed at length during the first class. Failure to comply with safety rules will result in removal from the class
No Class on May 26th, Memorial Day. No class on September 1st, Labor Day.
