Dec 20, 2019Rockingham Community College is celebrating again.
On Tuesday morning, Dec. 17, EMS Program Director Jason Collins learned that 100 percent of his recent Paramedic graduates passed the state exam, the North Carolina Paramedic Cognitive Exam.
The five graduates, who were pinned on Thursday, Dec. 12, are Kari Bingman, Logan Boothe, Jonathan Schwartz, Evan Webb, and Brittany Wyatt.
And an extra congratulations goes out to Logan Boothe, who also passed the National Registry Paramedic Cognitive Exam.
RCC’s next Paramedic course will be held Jan. 8-Dec. 10, 2020. It meets from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., alternating each week between Wednesday and Thursday, and Monday and Wednesday.
The course meets National Standard Curriculum, and provides the knowledge, skills and attributes to provide advanced emergency medical care as a paramedic for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system, and prepares graduates to enter the workforce.
Students gain complex knowledge, competency, and experience, while employing evidence-based practice under medical oversight, and learn to serve as a link from the scene into the healthcare system.
Employment opportunities include providers of emergency medical services, convalescent ambulance services, fire departments, rescue agencies, hospital specialty areas, industry, educational and government agencies.
The class includes lectures, hands-on skills instruction, and field clinical opportunities. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to sit for the North Carolina State Paramedic examination. Students must be certified as a North Carolina or National Registry EMT.
