History of RCC

Rockingham Community College traces its roots to 1958, when the Leaksville State Vocational Training Center opened on the campus of Morehead High School. This pioneering institution was the first of seven vocational centers authorized by the North Carolina Legislature, laying the foundation for what would become the North Carolina Community College System. By 1963, the number of centers had grown to 20, forming the backbone of a statewide movement to expand access to vocational and technical education.
