This certificate is designed to prepare individuals to work as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). EMTs are often the first responders to any emergency, making split-second decisions that save people’s lives. Topics include preparatory, airway, patient assessment, medical emergencies, trauma, infants and children, and operations. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve North Carolina State or National Registry EMT certification. Upon successful completion, a certificate will be awarded. Courses within the certificate may be applied toward an Associate in Applied Science degree in Emergency Medical Science.
