Sarah Evans Scholarship established
Dec 16, 2025Rockingham Community College is proud to announce the completion of the endowment for the Sarah Slayton Evans Memorial Scholarship, made possible through the generosity of the RCC Business Technology Club and donors to the RCC Foundation.

Sarah Slayton Evans was a lifelong resident of Rockingham County and a dedicated member of the RCC community. She earned degrees from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and Montreat College. During her years at RCC, Sarah served in many roles, including Financial Aid Specialist, Director of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs, Adjunct Faculty, Assistant Professor of Business Administration, and Department Chair of Business Technologies. Her commitment to students and her positive impact on campus will be remembered for years to come.
The memorial scholarship will be awarded annually to students enrolled in Business Technologies programs at RCC. Priority will be given to returning students in good academic standing, with preference for Rockingham County residents. Financial need may also be considered.
The completion of this endowment ensures ongoing support for RCC students and honors Sarah’s legacy of service and education.
Community members who wish to help increase the impact of the scholarship and more fully support a student’s tuition and educational expenses for the year are invited to contribute:
