Horton Honored for Service
Jul 25, 2018During the regular meeting of the Rockingham Community College Board of Trustees held July 17, 2018, RCC graduate Natalie M. Horton of Eden was recognized during a presentation of a resolution honoring her service as Student Trustee, by the Board.
Horton served as President of the Rockingham Community College Student Government Association and as Student Trustee of the college from September 2016 through July 2018.
She faithfully participated in the activities of the North Carolina Community College System’s Student Government Association (N4CSGA), serving as an Executive Board Chair of the N4CSGA Local Interactions Committee. She demonstrated her commitment to the service of others in a variety of campus events and activities, including the leading of the campus participation in the Operation Christmas Child program, the annual Christmas parade for the Town of Wentworth, and a variety of motivational and recreational events to promote campus spirit. Horton was a member of RCC’s Lady Eagles Volleyball team that is part of the college’s intercollegiate athletic program.
She was recognized for her leadership potential through her selection for and graduation from the North Carolina Community College System Student Leadership Development Program and served as a spokesperson to the state legislative leaders for all North Carolina community college.
Horton was an honors graduate of the college and earned the Associate of Applied Science degree in Electronics Engineering Technology. She was also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Horton will continue her education at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte and pursue a bachelor’s degree in the Systems Engineering Program.
