History of Rock Music

This course is a survey of Rock music from the early 1950’s to the present. Emphasis is based on musical groups, soloists, and styles related to the evolution of this idiom and on related historical and social events. Upon completion, students should be able to identify specific styles and to explain the influence of selected performers within their respective eras. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA and ICAA as a general education course in Humanities/Fine Arts.
