CJ grads can transfer to Mars Hill
May 7, 2025Criminal Justice students at Rockingham Community College can now seamlessly continue their education at Mars Hill University.
After completing an Associate in Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice at RCC, students are able to transfer into the Criminal Justice program at Mars Hill to complete a bachelor’s degree in two years or less.
These students can then pursue a Master of Art in Criminal Justice through Mars Hill online, in one year or less.
RCC Criminal Justice Faculty Valerie Bowers said RCC graduates enter the university as juniors, taking classes online or on the Mars Hill campus, just north of Asheville.
“And Mars Hill agreed to give extra credit to people who already have their BLET (Basic Law Enforcement Training) certification,” Bowers said.
“It’s a great opportunity for people who want to move into upper management. It will help students further their education even more after they finish RCC,” she said. “Ideally, they can go to work after getting their two-year associate degree and get real-life experience, while continuing on with their four-year degree to get higher pay and have doors open for higher positions.”
Bowers said additional transfer agreements with other universities specifically for the Criminal Justice program are underway.
