Other Industrial Technologies Programs

  • Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration

    The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology curriculum provides the basic knowledge to develop skills necessary to work with residential and light commercial systems.
    Topics include mechanical refrigeration, heating and cooling theory, electricity, controls, and safety.

  • Computer Integrated Machining

    The Computer-Integrated Machining curriculum prepares students with the analytical, creative, and innovative skills necessary to take a production idea from an initial concept through design, development, and production, resulting in a finished product.

  • Electrical Systems Technology

    The Electrical Systems Technology curriculum is designed to provide training for people interested in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems found in commercial facilities.

  • General Occupational Technology

    The General Occupational Technology curriculum provides individuals with an opportunity to upgrade skills and to earn an associate degree by taking courses suited for individual occupational interests and/or needs.

  • Industrial Automation and Maintenance

  • Manufacturing Technology

    The Manufacturing Technology curriculum prepares students to use basic engineering principles and technical skills to identify and resolve production problems in the manufacture of products.

  • Mechatronics

    A course of study that prepares the students to use basic engineering principles and technical skills in developing and testing automated, servo-mechanical, and other electromechanical system. Includes instruction in prototype testing, manufacturing and operational testing, systems analysis and maintenance procedures.

  • Welding Technology

    The Welding Technology curriculum provides students with a sound understanding of the science, technology, and applications essential for successful employment in the welding and metal working industry.

Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Technology (D35100)

Diploma

The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology curriculum provides the basic knowledge to develop skills necessary to work with residential and light commercial systems.

Topics include mechanical refrigeration, heating and cooling theory, electricity, controls, and safety. The diploma program covers air conditioning, furnaces, heat pumps, tools, and instruments. Diploma graduates should be able to assist in the startup, preventive maintenance, service, repair, and/or installation of residential and light commercial systems.

Students enrolling in this program must purchase student accident insurance.

Employment Competencies

Upon successful completion of the Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Technology program, graduates will/should be able to-
1. Apply basic heating and cooling principals to the maintenance of residential and light commercial HVAC systems
2. Assist in installation of residential and light commercial HVAC systems
3. Apply EPA 608 refrigerant certification rules and regulations
4. Use basic HVAC specific tools and gauges

Employment Outlook

Employment of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers is projected to grow 4% from 2019 to 2029, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Commercial and residential building construction is expected to drive employment growth, and job opportunities for HVACR technicians are expected to be good.
