Professional

Cosmetology: 4:30-9:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, Aug. 18, 2025-July 22, 2026, RCC. This is a two-year program that provides English- and Spanish-speaking students with hands-on training in a simulated salon environment. Students must complete Cost: $206 plus kit. Ask about a scholarship.

Cisco Enterprise Networking: 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Aug. 26-Dec. 9, RCC and online. This is the third course in a three-part Cisco series, and students must take parts one and two first. This course covers the architecture, components, operations, and security for large, complex networks, including wide-area network (WAN) technologies. This course series leads to students taking the exam to become a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). Cost: $190. Ask about a scholarship.

CompTIA A+ IT Technician: 6-8 p.m. Thursdays, Aug. 28-Dec. 11, RCC plus online. Gain the knowledge and skills required for a career as an entry-level IT professional or personal computer service technician. Learn to install, upgrade, repair, configure, troubleshoot, optimize and perform preventative maintenance of basic personal computer hardware and operating systems. This course helps prepare students for the CompTIA A+ certification exam. Cost: $190. Ask about a scholarship.         

Google Digital Marketing and E-Commerce: Sept. 9-Feb. 3, online. Learn popular digital marketing and e-commerce tools and platforms, such as Canva, Constant Contact, Hootsuite, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Shopify, Twitter, Google Ads, and Google Analytics. By the end of this course, students will be able to apply digital marketing strategies, best practices, and tools to increase awareness of a business, understand customer needs, and engage people’s interests with products and services. In addition, students will obtain the knowledge necessary to complete the Google Digital Marketing and E-Commerce Certificate. Cost: $190. Ask about a scholarship.

MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint: 5:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays, Aug. 25-Dec. 8, RCC, plus online. Gain skills to confidently use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on the job or at home. In addition, students will obtain the knowledge necessary to prepare for the Microsoft Office Specialist Word, Excel, and PowerPoint certification exams. Purchase of course materials (approx. $130) is required during the first class. Registration fees do not include Microsoft certification exam fees. Cost: $190. Ask about a scholarship.

Manicurist: 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Sept. 5-Feb. 28, RCC. Receive instruction and clinical practice in manicuring, application and maintenance of artificial nails, and pedicuring, for students who want to become a registered manicurist and not a licensed cosmetologist. Topics include nail anatomy, disorders and irregularities; theory and salesmanship as it relates to manicuring; manicuring practice; and arm, hand, and foot massage. Students must complete 300 hours in an approved beauty school or college before applying to the State Board of Cosmetic Arts for examination. Cost: $206 plus kit and textbooks. Scholarships available.

Natural Hair Care Specialist: 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Sept. 5-Feb. 28, RCC. This 300-hour program teaches styling techniques without the use of chemicals, such as braids, twists, extensions, and locks. Completers will be eligible to sit for the State Board of Cosmetic Arts to become a licensed specialist. Cost: $206 plus kit and textbooks. Scholarships available.

NC Fast Phase I (DSS Caseworker): 6-9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Aug. 6-Sept. 29, RCC. Obtain employability skills training and do career exploration for the role of an income maintenance caseworker within Division of Social Service agencies. There is also a Phase II, and students need to successfully complete both for certification. Cost: $70.

Notary: 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 or Sept. 13, RCC, or 9-4:30 Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26-27, online. Learn the qualifications of the notary public office and requirements for attestation, fees, general powers and limitations, certifications, oaths, affirmations and affidavits. Purchase of Notary manual is required. Cost: $73 for class at RCC, or $74 for the online class.

Welding – Basic MIG: 8-9:30 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, Aug. 18-Dec. 9, RCC. This program introduces gas metal arc welding and flux core arc welding processes. Topics include equipment set up and fillet and groove weld with emphasis on application of GMAW and FCAW electrodes on steel plate, as well as basic welding measurement and print reading. Upon completion, students will have the knowledge base to seek employment as entry level MIG welders. This course also prepares students to continue into the RCC Welding Technology certificate and diploma programs, with possible articulation upon successful completion and approved articulation application process. Cost: $190. Ask about a scholarship.

Welding – Basic Processes: 6-9:45 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 20-Oct. 9, or Oct. 16-Dec. 11, RCC. This course introduces basic welding and cutting. Emphasis is place on beads applied with gases, mild steel fillers, and electrodes and the capillary action of solder. Upon completion, students should be able to set up welding and oxy-fuel equipment and perform welding. Cost: $192. Ask about a scholarship.

Health Care

Cardiovascular Technician: 5:30-9:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 22-Dec. 8, RCC plus online. Prepare to become a certified EKG tech. Learn the anatomy and physiology of the heart, principles of EKG, dysrhythmia recognition of sinus, junctional/atrial rhythms, heart blocks and bundle branches and ventricular ectopy rhythms. Skills include operating EKG equipment, running and mounting strips as well as reading and interpreting 22 types of cardiac lead tracings produced from 12 and five lead monitors and to understand the basics of capnography as it relates to heart function. Cost: $192. Ask about a scholarship.

CPR: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, RCC. Learn to recognize an emergency or signs of heart attack, care for choking victims, rescue breathing and CPR. Introduces defibrillator. Cost: $55. Info: 336-342-4261, ext. 2602. Cost: $60.

Dialysis Technology: 1-5 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 22-Nov. 17, online and in person, RCC. Lecture, lab, and clinical activities teach the theoretical, technical, and clinical skills needed to maintain equipment and provide patient care to those being treated for chronic renal diseases. Successful completion of this course will prepare the individual for employment as a dialysis technician in hospitals, renal dialysis facilities, and clinics. After one year of work experience, individuals may be eligible to sit for national certification as a Clinical Hemodialysis Technician. Cost: $192. Ask a scholarship.

EMT Initial: 6-10 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. every other Saturday, July 8-Oct. 25, RCC. Another class is offered 6-10 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Aug. 25-Dec. 17, and every other Saturday, RCC. Learn basic life support skills. EMTs function in many areas including EMS systems, fire departments, hospitals, rescue squads, and physician offices. Completers will be eligible to sit for the North Carolina or National Registry EMT examination. Cost: $353. Ask about a scholarship.

Phlebotomy: 8-11 a.m. Saturdays, Sept. 6-Dec. 20, RCC plus online. Learn theory and gain clinical experience needed for the proper collection of blood and other specimens used for diagnostic testing. Students are required to complete 100 clinical hours. Upon completion, students may be eligible for national certification as a phlebotomy technician with the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Cost: $234. Ask about a scholarship.

Personal

Cabinetmaking: 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays, Aug. 2-Feb. 7, Freeman’s Wood Crafters in Eden, or 8 a.m.-noon Monday sand Wednesdays, Sept. 3-Nov. 26, RCC. Learn the fundamental techniques of cabinetmaking; the difference between store-bought and custom cabinets; proper selection of wood, materials, tools and finishes; how to plan, blueprint and build your own small case good; understand installation; and estimate project costs. Cost: $232 plus materials.

Computer Basics: 9 a.m.-noon Fridays, Aug. 22-Sept. 12, or 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 9-30, RCC. Develop computer skills essential for success in today’s technology-driven workplace. Course covers the basic functions of Microsoft Word and Excel, emailing, internet navigation, file organization, uploads/downloads, and resources for keyboarding skills. Cost: $70, but is waived for most students.

Employability Lab: Aug. 11-Dec. 19, RCC. Schedule lab time between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. any day of the week and obtain help from instructors with job applications, job searches, writing resumes and cover letters, and more. Cost: $180, but waived for most students.

Exploring Clay: 5-8 p.m. Mondays, Aug. 18-Oct. 13, RCC. Learn to design and make pottery using a potter’s wheel and hand-building techniques in this 24-hour course. All skill levels welcome. Clay, glaze materials and firings provided. Cost: $150.

Family Tree Maker 2024: 3-5 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 18-Nov. 6, RCC. Learn about features and functions of the all-new Family Tree Maker 2024. Students must have successfully completed Introduction to Family Tree Maker or have an intermediate level of experience with the Family Tree Maker software. Learn to unlock previous versions of the software, create maps that show events and their associate people, grant viewing privileges on smartphones, make interactive documentaries, use the built-in family resource center, add Relative Hint sticky notes, use the Photo Darkroom Tools and other new features and tools. Those pursuing a career in genealogy services will learn advanced research, data entry, scanning, organizational, and computer skills. Cost: $74.

Fundamentals of Woodworking: 5:45 p.m.-9:15 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 3-Nov. 19, RCC’s Center for Creative Woodworking in downtown Reidsville.Learn the heritage art of woodworking at the introductory level. Course includes discussion on history and trends, practice, and information to build and supply a studio. Discussion about types of wood suitable for each student’s project and guidance is provided about obtaining wood. Cost: $145 plus purchase of wood. Info: 336-342-4261 ext. 2333.

Intermediate Woodworking: 5:45 p.m.-9:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2-Nov. 18 or Thursdays, Sept. 4-Nov. 20, RCC’s Center for Creative Woodworking, 333 S. Scales St., Reidsville.Learn the heritage art of woodworking at the intermediate level. Course includes discussion on history and trends, practice, and information to build and supply a studio. Painting: Little Country Church in Fall: 1-4 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 20-Oct. 15, RCC. Capture the nostalgia of a country church tucked into fall scenery. Learn color mixing, painting in layers, undercolor importance, perspective, and composition. Cost: $73.
