6 make NJCAA academic teams

The following Rockingham Community College baseball players won academic honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for their grades during the 2023-2024 school year.

Sophomores Nathan Lykins and Emerson Monbarren made the NJCAA All-Academic First Team with 4.0 GPAs.

Lykins, from Lincolnton, played corner infielder. He graduated in May, earning an Associate in Arts Degree in Teacher Preparation and an Associate in Science Degree in Teacher Preparation. 

Monbarren, of Charlotte, played outfielder and was a right-handed pitcher. He graduated in May with an Associate in Science Degree.

Freshman Russell Vaughan made the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team with a GPA between 3.80 and 3.99. From Indian Trail, he is a right-handed pitcher and is pursuing an Associate in Arts Degree from RCC.

Freshmen Trevor Horne and Seth Svadeba, and sophomore Davis Horton, were named to the NJCAA All-Academic Third Team, with GPAs of 3.60-3.79.

Horne, of Monroe, is an outfielder who is studying Business Administration at RCC.

Svadeda, from Clayton, is a right-handed pitcher working toward his Associate in Arts Degree from RCC.

Davis Horton was a catcher/corner infielder from Durham, who graduated in May with an Associate in Science Degree.
